dearroxi.com is a website vehicle for the serial rollout, chapter by chapter over the coming weeks, of the novel Dear Roxi, a work of not-so-fictional contemporary fiction by John Van Winkle. In addition, the website serves as an online portal for registration into “We-The-People-United” (WTPU), a real-time, real-life grassroots resistance organization mirroring its Dear Roxi counterpart.
As the story unfolds, WTPU is organized and led by a young Chicago mother and entrepreneur, Sylvia Ramirez. With her volunteer team, she takes on the commune of politicians, government officials, media moguls and corporate oligarchs who conspire to subject the US to totalitarian rule. Wielding only their unity, achieved through compromise, and Constitutional guarantees that have been weakened by decades of divisive political attack, the embryonic resistance nevertheless germinates sufficiently to pose a mounting threat to the forces of power and greed.
We-The-People-United builds through early 2023 to massive numbers of Registrants united in their determination to preserve freedom for themselves and their posterity. Through twists, turns, surprises, drama and poignant moments, the story culminates in an apparently final Ides of March confrontation played out before a virtual audience numbering in the hundreds of millions.
As the smoke of battle clears, has the resistance prevailed? From the novel, it might appear so, and yet from a quick late-2023 check into the real world, it would seem not. As real-life 2023 slips toward its close, the same old treacherous traitor seems once more to be squaring-off against the same old terrifying trumpeter, toward a 2024 Presidential rematch that could only spell doom for the People, in either outcome. But maybe, just maybe, the Dear Roxi story that seems to have not happened in 2023 has been transported through a time warp to 2024... and will in fact play out in real time, as the coinciding dates of 2024 unfold… but this time for real.
